Mayor’s corner by Greg “Porp” Rogers:
Happy New Year, hopefully 2026 is filled with joy, good health, and prosperity for all.
On January 5th at 6:30pm, the village board will be holding its first workshop of the year at the Village Hall. On the agenda are two resolutions that deal with the procedure to pass our comprehensive plan. This needs to be done prior to the public hearing on January 21st at 7:00pm, at the village hall.
One item on the agenda is to name the Village Board as lead agency, and reviewing agency, for SEQR. The other determining negative environmental consequences from the Plan (a negative declaration is very common). We are going to try to have a draft of the new comprehensive plan on the website soon.
At our last meeting, the board regretfully accepted the letter of resignation from Tom Frew for his position on the planning board. Not only did Tom serve on the planning board for years but he was a trustee for many as well. It is hard to find people as dedicated as Tom for the better good of our community. We cannot thank Tom enough for all his years of service. In Tom’s absence, I have appointed Dan Vanderhoof to fill that position on the planning board.
