Mayor’s Corner by Greg “Porp” Rogers:
In my last article I mentioned that the Town has responsibility for code enforcement. The Village Board would like to express our gratitude to Mike Risewick for the job he has done with that department. Mike does the heavy lifting down there and his efforts are greatly appreciated. As Trustee Bonacquisti mentioned, both Boards are going to be working very closely to give that department the resources they need.
It seems that the Village has a tree surgeon (for lack of a better term), cutting down trees and leaving them on the terrace of our streets for our DPW to pick up. This is not how it works. If the homeowner hires a person to take down a tree and they leave it for the village to pick up, the homeowner will be billed accordingly. We will continue to take away limbs and branches that may come down as we always have. Please refer to the Village website (www.villageofleroyny.org) for yard waste disposal information (click residents at the top right, then yard waste).
Thank you to all who participated in the past weekend’s clean up. The Northwoods club canvased some of the back roads picking up a trailer full of garbage. Special thanks to Danielle and Michele for getting this ball rolling.
Plans are beginning to take shape for our country’s 250th birthday, let’s plan on getting out and enjoy this event. More information to follow, the LeRoy then and now Facebook page will have more.
