Mayor's Corner by Greg

1/14/2026

Mayor’s corner by Greg “Porp” Rogers:

It is with heavy heart that I mention the passing of Bob Taylor. Bob was a good friend and great board member. I was fortunate enough to sit on the board with Bob for years and he served as Deputy Mayor in my early terms. He was always prepared, well thought out, and open minded. In later years, he served on the zoning board of appeal, and prior to his village board duties he was on the school board, and a volunteer fireman. He was a true LeRoyan. Jon VanBuskirk will be taking the position on the zoning board of appeals. Jon follows is his father Charlie’s footsteps who served on the board as chairman for years.

On Wednesday night, January 21st, we will have the public hearing for approval of our 2026 comprehensive plan at the village hall. You can review the plan on the website.  The meeting will begin at 7:00pm at the village hall. Newly elected county legislator Laurie Mancuso took the plan to the Genesee County planning board where it got a very favorable review and approval.

The board will begin its annual budget preparation next month and will make every effort to keep your rate as low as possible. While many items went up, through the help of Mike Tucci, we managed to keep our property insurance flat this year. We have also been checking into other efficiencies to see savings as well.

When asked for a motion to pay bills at a Village Board meeting, Bob Tayor would make the motion and include “reluctantly” every time. Trustee Jim Bonacquisti has picked up the tradition.
