Mayor’s Corner by Greg “Porp” Rogers
We have received our first snow that brings up some old problems. In these events the village tries to clear all the sidewalks for children and the mail carriers, and plan to continue this. We run into issues when the independent snow plowers pile up driveway snow across the sidewalk making it impossible for getting our equipment through. My ask is simple, please ask your provider to push the snow onto your yards. It may require some extra yard work come spring but this will allow us to get up and down our sidewalks. In some cases this is the only way people have to get around.
Our next comprehensive plan meeting is going to be January 13th at 6:30 at the memorial auditorium on Trigon Park. Please try to come and have a voice on the future of your community.
In the last week I have been fielding questions about not having a Christmas tree in the lot at the corner of 5 and 19. The tree is not owned by the village, a private individual owns it, stores it, puts it up and takes it down. All out of the kindness of his heart. This year circumstances came about that he was not able to do it. Rather than complain about what we don’t have, let’s try to appreciate what we do have and thank people for what they did do. Great save on the part of the business council to move the Winterfest festivities to Trigon Park. The Village is looking into alternative decoration for next year and exploring other ideas that we can control, in the event that the tree does not go up again next year. For those 5 or 10 people a year who ask me when is the tree coming down, well I guess this is your year. If this is the biggest problem we have in our lives we are in GREAT shape.
The Business Council will once again sponsor the First Night fireworks display on the creekbank starting at 9 on New Years’ Eve. If you see Jody Rogers that night wish her a Happy Birthday.
My New Year’s resolution is to do these articles more frequently.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year !!!!
