Mayor’s Corner by Greg “Porp” Rogers

Bob Lathan Jr. and his crew have already put down close to 20 tons of either hot or cold patch this spring. It was much needed and more is to come. Monroe County Water came in and did some major fixes on South, North and Church St. We have plans to bring these streets back in tip top shape and continue to others. Thanks for your patience.

The Board and Code Enforcement along with Village Attorney Jake Whiting are working together to put together a system that should help with basic clean up of unkempt properties. Much is in place but needs some clarification. Property ownership is a balance between rights of the owner and their responsibilities to the neighborhoods and community. It is not our goal to cause financial hardship to the owner, but to keep our community clean. In my next column I will have any changes and updates.

I wish everyone a Happy Memorial Day, and a special “Thank You” to our Veterans and those who gave all for our country.
