Mayor's Corner

Mayor’s Corner by Greg “Porp” Rogers

Hopefully you have noticed the new STOP signs on Gilbert St. One at Tountas Ave. and the Munson St. is now a four way stop. Munson St. has a 25 mile an hour speed limit and we are going to increase police presence, trying to promote safer streets. Munson has no sidewalks and Gilbert has a heavy commercial use. The best protection for all is for parents to teach their children about the dangers and we drivers use extra caution.

Over the beginning of this year, we have spent over $300,000 on blacktop and cold and hot patch. That is a huge number and Monroe County Water Authority and the state have put numerous thousands down as well. Hopefully it lasts.

As Summer comes to a close, I would like to thank all those who worked at the playgrounds and pool and Becky Elmore for the job she did as director.

The village DPW will be trying to button up a few jobs before we start leaf season.

Enjoy what Summer we have left.
