Mayor’s Corner by Greg “Porp” Rogers
Things are going to be very busy around the village hall to start the new year.
Our next comprehensive plan meeting is going to be January 13th at 6:30pm at the Memorial Auditorium on Trigon Park. Please try to come and have a voice in the future of your community. This is one of the many programs we anticipate completing this year. Other projects on the agenda are, extending the rock wall on the creek bed. A rooftop solar farm that will give the village a more stable electric bill in the future. A grant to explore the probability of consolidation. Lighting of the falls on Main St. as well as an upgrade to our Christmas decorations. In a combined effort we will be working towards a salt water pool.
Recently we all received our Town/County tax bill, and soon we to will be working on the village’s budget. While we have managed to keep the tax rate fairly consistent in the past, there are a few things we all need to be aware of going forward. The village board realizes your assessments have all gone up, this should allow us to lower the over all rate. The citizen must recognize we have been and currently are now in a inflation economy and everything in it is going up. The village is not any different than your own home budget, our bills have gotten bigger too. So, your rate may go down, but the dollars paid will go up. I wish it was the reverse. What you will keep getting is the village board will try to scrutinize all dollars spent so you, the taxpayer, gets the best bang for your buck. This is a task the board takes very seriously as they always have. I will keep you posted on our progress.
So, as you can see we have a fairly aggressive plan.
