Mayor’s Corner by Greg “Porp” Rogers
The black bunting on the Village Hall and the flag at half-mast are in honor of William “Sid” Horgan. This is a New York State tradition to honor fallen public officials. Sid was mayor for 10 years and piloted our community through the “Monroe County Water” transfer. This was a hot topic of the times and very controversial. After experiencing 20 water main breaks in the village this year, I am glad we were not responsible for fixing them.
It was also my pleasure to serve on the board with Sid, and Dick O’ Shea who we also lost last week.
School will be reopening soon and we have some new parking signs coming. At the request of the state, this also brings the friendly reminder of safety both for walkers and well as school bus safety.
The board is looking into options for Christmas decorations for the 5 & 19 lot, when we come up with our plan, you will know.
Our Waste Water Treatment plant passed its annual assessment audit from the DEC, this comes as no surprise because of the great work they do.
We are a finalist for a grant from the Ralph C. Wilson foundation that would bring money to upgrade our swimming pool.
